How do I know my brakes need attention?

Squealing or grinding noises, a soft or spongy pedal, shuddering through the wheel under braking, or the car pulling to one side are the classic signs. If you notice any of them, get it checked promptly - brakes rarely get better on their own.

Do you machine rotors or just replace them?

It depends on how much material is left. If the rotors are within the manufacturer's minimum thickness we can machine them; if they're below spec or badly worn we'll recommend replacement and tell you why. You get the honest option, not the expensive one by default.

My car clunks over bumps - is that suspension?

Usually, yes - worn bushes, sway bar links or ball joints are common culprits. We road test and inspect on the hoist to pinpoint it rather than guessing, then quote the specific repair.

Will worn suspension fail a pink slip?

It can - leaking shocks, worn ball joints and perished bushes are all inspection items. Sorting them before rego time avoids a repair notice, and since we're an inspection station we can do both in one visit.
